Lauren told me that she wanted to learn to cook this summer! I guess the universe loves her because a few days later, she was invited to a Kids Get Cooking Class.
Who cares that she had theater camp and swim lessons planned on the same day! Sometimes this being a good mother thing is overwhelming, but when opportunity knocks, you walk through the door!
Local chefs, Valerie and Kristen teamed up to teach the fun and informative class! The dishes were simple and delicious! I have to give a shout out to both ladies for their patience with this energetic group of kids!
The first item on the menu was Oreo Cookie Cake Pops! Who says that you can’t have dessert first? You can but this wasn’t the case. The cake pops needed time to set so they would be ready to decorate and eat once it was time for dessert.
Next the class moved on to cutting carrots and lettuce for their Chop Chop Salad in a Mason Jar with Homemade Ranch Dressing.
They ended with an all-time favorite-Homemade Pizza! Did they make their own dough? Of course not! Why should they when you can get pizza dough from Trader Joe’s for just $1! Parents take note!
The kids enjoyed their culinary masterpieces! I’m sure the next move is opening fancy restaurants!
