I recently turned the big 4-0! Life has finally begun! Birthdays are special to me because that’s the one moment-second, in time that God created just for you!
I kicked it off with a Kentucky Derby Theme brunch, at one of my favorite restaurants, Fernando’s in Uptown Dallas (http://www.fernandostexmex.com)! I love their food, drink specials, and customer service!
It was gloomy outside due to a morning storm, but inside Fernando’s, we created our own sunshine! There was bursts of laughter, delicious food, great gifts, and dancing! Yes, I did the Whip Nae Nae!
I celebrated with friends who I love and know love me! After all, the best memories are shared with the ones you love and those who return that love. Some friends came late, some left early, but they showed up and I appreciated that!
Althought the day was about me, I wanted to give back to my community as well as to my friends who gave up three hours of their day to make my day special.
They were asked to bring books to be donated to The Wade Smith Foundation. In return, I surprised them with goodie bags to show my appreciation for their love, support, and friendship!
Below is verse from the song “You Were Loved.” This verse describes my joy from my celebration!
“When somebody cares that you’re alive
When somebody trusts you with their life
That’s when you’ll know
That you have all you need
You’ll hold this world’s most priceless gift
The finest treasure that there is
You can look back and know
You were loved”
On my special day in October 2015, Yes, I was loved. I know it. I felt it. It lingers on. I thank you friends. 40 rocks and so do you!
