Hurray! The 32nd season of the Dallas Children’s Theater(DCT) has begun! What b etter way to kick it off than with the ever so popular Nancy…Fancy Nancy that is, and her friends!
Attendees flocked to the theater with their version of fancy costumes with boas, tiaras, made up faces, etc. Even Lauren put on her tutu for the show.
Nancy and her friends Bree, Ronda, Wanda, and Lionel, are excited about the upcoming Mermaid Ballet recital. Nancy becomes disappointed when her friend Bree is cast as the mermaid over her. Instead, she will be a tree. What’s fancy about a tree?
This doesn’t deter Nancy as she realizes she is not only a tree, but a willow tree and willow trees move gracefully! She sets out to make it the fanciest, most creative and fabulous tree e-VER!
Nancy may be the center of the show, but there is a dancing shark who finds a way to steal scenes with his Chomp, Chomp, Chomp!
Upbeat and engaging, Fancy Nancy: The Musical entertains kids ages 5 and up and all backgrounds. It reiterates the importance of friendship and encouraging/supporting those you love.
Director Nancy Schaeffer shared, “Nancy and her friends share many of the same joys and struggles that all children do-friends, family, school, and teachers, and how to deal with disappointment. Nancy is true to herself. She loves to be creative, fun, and fancy. She also finds joy in what is special about her friends.”
Fancy Nancy: The Musical runs through October 25 at the Dallas Children’s Theater. To purchase tickets visit www.dct.org.
